Carolyn Tries Cereal!

Because Carolyn is just about 5 months old, she is allowed to start on rice cereal! We decided to start tonight, rather than waiting til next week, because this way we will have her all day Saturday and Sunday to monitor for any adverse affects.

Anyway, we sat her down at "dinner time", which was just before our own dinner time, and she seemed quite content and happy in the high chair. I also can't believe how big and grown up she looks just sitting in a high chair!!

Carolyn seems so grown up! Why does time have to fly???

When I started to feed Carolyn, I recalled what a fun evening it was starting Annette on cereal. This time, however, did not get off to such a "fun" start.

What is this thing?

Mommy, I just don't get it!

Apparently John and I got lucky with Annette, because when we fed her cereal for the first time, it was very natural for her. She understood the fact that there was food on the spoon and that she was to take the food from the spoon into her mouth and swallow it. Carolyn, however, did not understand this concept. I am pretty sure she was searching for a nipple, rather than a spoon. So I resorted to feeding her the bottle first. I thought maybe if her belly was full, then she would be calmer and more accepting of the foreign object.

That's what I was looking for!

After her bottle was empty, she still just cried and cried when I tried to feed her cereal on the spoon. I would give her a little spoon full and she would just continue wailing and basically spit it out. I was about to give up, thinking she just wasn't ready, when she finally came around and realized that the spoon had the same stuff as the bottle. Thank goodness, because I was about at the end of my rope at that moment, especially considering how easy Annette made it for us when she was a baby!

This isn't so bad after all!

Don't worry mom, I can get the hang of this.

In the end, Carolyn made a "happy plate"(this is of course turning a blind eye to the bib soaked with a large portion of her dinner).

My New Job

I am so excited about starting my new role as Instructional Technology Specialist this year! For those of you who don't know, I will be working at two different campuses this year helping with technology integration. I have created a video for my new colleagues to watch so they can get to know me.

Enjoy!

Carolyn's new playthings.

This week we decided to put Carolyn in her bumbo chair and the exersaucer and she loves it. She spends hours playing in them and has such a good time. Annette really enjoys her being in them too and will go up to her and play with her in them. It is pretty cool to see her advancing this quickly but then you look over at Annette and realize that she doesn't have that much longer to be our little baby

Carolyn in Bumbo, doing a taste test.

"I like my bumbo chair!!"

"but I can't get enough of this thing"

Happy girl!!

Carolyn's all smiles

Well maybe not all smiles.

The girls play Ring around the Rosey.

Playing in the exersaucer some more.

Big sister is trying really hard to be helpful.

Annette fondly (if incorrectly) remembers her days in the Bumbo.

All that playing sure tired Carolyn out.

Carolyn's baptism

Yesterday Carolyn got baptized at the Foundry. We had a lot of family come out to show their support (Thanks guys) and had a great time. Carolyn was super good and even gave Pastor Kerry a great big smile. Annette did well and stayed in grown up church for all but the last ten minutes. Afterwards we went to Chuy's to celebrate and ended up the outing by going over to Grandma and Poppa's new digs to play for a little bit. It was a good day.

Carolyn is psyched about her big day.
Annette is pretty excited too.

Carolyn wore the same christening gown that Annette did.
(It was Laurie's and she let us borrow it, Thanks Laurie)
Getting ready for the baptism.
Annette took this picture.
This one too.
This one too.

Pastor Kerry posed with us after the service.

All of us together.

Chillin' at Grandma's.

Annette needs her colors.

Annette is saying cheese.

Will and Melissa's shower by John

Stefanie, Laurie, and Emily threw Will and Melissa a baby shower on Saturday. Here are some photos of the glorious event.

The house looked great all decorated up.

Laurie made the pom poms, Stephanie and Emily the stars,
Bryan and I hung them up.

The cake was beautiful.

It tasted it good as it looked.

Will and his baby momma.

Clotheslines filled with baby clothes.

I stayed up until 1:30 making these pennants.

We played the dirty diaper game.

Bryan couldn't help himself.

Will and his baby momma playing the 1st minute to win it game.

The purpose was to get all the rings on the stick .....

..by dropping them, in a minute.

The winners from round 1 had to chug chocolate milk from baby bottles.

Annette wasn't sure what to think, so she focused on chips instead.

Round 2 winners had to put the alphabet in order backwards.

Abbie got some help from Shelby and won.
(She said she had lots of practice doing the alphabet backwards)

Shelby celebrated.

Bryan ate out of the trash too.

Carolyn liked watching the festivities.

Then it was gift opening time.

Will's favorite gift.
