Pumpkin Carving Time

Last night we all sat down after dinner and carved Carolyn's first and Annette's third Jack-O-Lantern. Annette really got into it and Carolyn enjoyed watching. Annette was very excited and helped decide what we were going to carve on it (She went with a happy face) but then was not too sure what to do once we got her hands in the guts. She was a trooper though and quickly got into the zone and just kept grabbing more and pulling it out. She started enjoying it and counting the seeds she pulled out. She would even show Carolyn what she had, but Carolyn was more interested in trying to eat the newspaper whe had spread on the floor to control the mess. The best part though was when Annette started to play with the pumpkin guts, squishing them and slapping them in her hands. After we finished carving we took the pumpkin outside and lit it up. Both girls liked it but Annette was simply awed by it. I think she is really going to like Halloween this year.

Annette show Carolyn where the pumpkin's face will go.

Where did the pumpkin go?

There it is!!

Three ladies and a pumpkin.

Annette reaches in to get some guts.

"It's on my hands, Daddy"

But she still gets some more out.

Dewberry farms with the Gann Clan

So last weekend we joined our friends the Ganns on a trip to Dewberry farms to let the girls run around and play, and then to go to the pumpkin patch. We had been there two years ago with Annette, but it was so much better this time now that she could actually do things and run around and have fun. She did have a lot of fun and we hope Ashlynn did too. We need to do stuff like this more.
Ashlynn and Annette riding in style.

Carolyn's ready to roll too.

Annette is almost two pumpkins tall.

Carolyn is just over one pumpkin tall.

Ashlynn is 1 1/2 pumpkins tall.

It took a lot of pictures, but we finally got the girls together on this one.

Little Pumpkin.

Carolyn is curious.

Annette and Daddy ride the cow train.
(The jaws of life were not needed to get John out, just 4 quarts of butter and a winch)

Travis and Ashlynn pick a pumpkin.

Annette couldn't make up her mind.

So she picked Mommy.

Then she picked Ashlynn.

Awwwwwwwwwww.

Off to find more pumpkins.

Finally found one she liked.

Carolyn approved too.

Happy family!

Annette's driving Ashlynn to school!!!!

Mommy found a little pumpkin to take home too.

Family Get Together

Last Saturday we got together over at Jane's house with that whole side of the family. In addition to the usual suspects of Mimi, Will, Melissa, Austin, Bryan, Stefanie, Laurie, Jane, and Adalyn we were joined by Uncle Jim, Martha, Jennifer, Kristen, Dan, and Hayley for dinner and playtime. It was a lot of fun. Annette and Hayley are only a couple of months apart so it was really fun to watch the two of them get along and play with Adalyn too. They had a good time outside on the swingset and then playing with the kitchen inside. We need to do this again soon.

This is the first family picture we have taken in a long time.
Uncle Jim and Martha brought presents for the kiddos.
Carolyn tried to eat hers.
Annette helped Austin open his.
Hayley wasn't sure about Carolyn being in her Granddad's lap.
She decided it was ok pretty quickly.

Annette was very resourceful with Austin's wrapping paper.

But she had trouble keeping it on.

She sure did like it though.

Dress Up with Uncle Will

The other night we got down our Halloween decorations while Will and Melissa were here. In the decoration tub we found some random pieces of old Halloween outfits. Well it wasn't long before Annette had some on and was putting the others on Uncle Will. Carolyn even got into the act eventually. The girls had so much fun playing dress up that we need to start considering finding some dress up clothes for them to play with all the time. (We will leave it to Melissa to find some for Will)

For some reason Annette does this when she sings "5 little monkeys"

Annette found this hat and liked it.

But the sunglasses really made her happy.

She thought Uncle Will looked funny in his wig.

Stylin' and profilin'

Carolyn looks good in it too.

But the hat might be a little big.
