Annette's 4th Birthday

Last weekend our darling daughter Annette turned four. We branched out a little and had the party out on the town instead of here at the Wisbrock domicile. We went to paint at a really crappy place whose name I won't use here and then had an awesome lunch at Carabba's. It was awesome. Here are some pictures and stuff.

Before we went to the party we gave Annette her gift from us.

She was super excited to get her bike.

Then it was off to paint some pottery

Here were all the items they could choose from.

This was the highlight of the party to me,

Annette really wanted her sister's help to blow out the candles.

but she jammed Carolyn's face into the side of the cake. It was awesome.

Carolyn got to chill with one of her favorite people.

Eating cake

So the reason I didn't name the painting place earlier is because the only reason that we went there at all is because they were giving us the party for free. They were doing that because last year when we tried to make a white board witha tile surround for Carolyn's 1st birthday, they broke one of the tiles with Carolyn's footprint on it, then made a fake one and tried to give it to us that way. So again, they made a mistake, LIED about it and tried to trick me by replacing an irreplacable print of my baby's foot with the side of someone's hand and their fingers. When I caught the mistake and called to complain they told me they couldn't give me any money back on a $350 item. Again, they lied to and tried to trick me, but didn't think I deserved any kind of refund. Over he next couple of months I contacted the owner of this place numerous times (in between her deep sea fishing trips to exotic locales) and after being assured by her that she was "a good christian woman who didn't want to rip me off" was told that I could have $17.63 cents back or I could let her keep the board (which was decorated by our family for our daughter) as a display piece and not pay anything. Not only did I doubht her devoutness, but I did not accept this as any sort of appeasement and after several more angry calls she told us that she would give me a free party to make up for it. I immediately wondered why she would do this and then realized it was so she could make money off of whoever we brought to the party and so not really give us anything back at all, so I argued with her a little more and finally accepted a free party for 20 with $10 items for each persons. Emily and I went to the party waiting for the other shoe to drop. And drop it did, at the party I had to leave early to get Carabba's set up, but I noticed that it was taking Emily and my parents forever to come over, so just as I was getting my phone out to call her, Emily called me. The painting people were trying to make her pay. So I went back over there to deal with them, and she went to the party. They were trying to say that only the studio time was free and we owed for every piece that was painted. I very loudly refuses to accept that and called the workers liars before I got on the phone with the owner (who had told me before that she would be at the party to "make sure I had the best expereince possible"). Fancy rich person deep sea fishing season must not be right now, or she has a fancy rich person satellite phone because they managed to get her on the phone and to make a long story slightly less long we ended up working it out but not until I had missed a portion of Annette's party. So needless to say I recommend that everyone stay away from the Mad Potter, unless the really enjoy being treated like a jerk and lied to repeatedly.
